Top Funds Analysis for a Campaign or Appeal
Funds — which represent the donor's intent for how you should use a gift — can help direct gifts toward specific campaigns. Similarly, appeals — the solicitations used to bring in gifts — can help direct giving toward specific funds. For example, a capital campaign for a new building may use separate funds for its design, construction, and landscaping and targeted appeals to ask for gifts for each cause. On the record of a campaign or appeal, its top-grossing funds over the past five years appear under Top funds. For each fund, you can view:
To track the direct impact and effectiveness of a fund, Total gifts provides how much it raised for the campaign or through the appeal.
Tip: With the Revenue type filter, you can choose whether to analyze revenue received through cash-in-hand giving or committed through pledges and matching gifts. For more information, see Revenue and Recognition.
To view a list of gifts a fund raised for the campaign or through the appeal, select its Total gifts amount. For further analysis, select Create list to open the list in Lists, where you can apply additional filters, choose columns, and save for future reuse. For more information, see Lists.
To help motivate fundraisers and track their effectiveness, your organization may set goals to raise toward specific funds. If your organization sets goals for funds, Goal provides the target amount to raise.
To help track the effectiveness of the fund:
-
% of goal provides the percentage of the fund's goal amount its total gifts raised.
-
Over (Under) provides how much the fund's total gifts exceed (or fall short of) its goal.
With this information, you can quickly compare the effectiveness of the funds tied to the campaign or appeal.
