Duplicate Constituent Records
Raiser's Edge NXT provides several ways for you to avoid multiple records for the same individual or organization.
To help prevent duplicates as you add new constituents, potential matches appear in a list after you add a person's first and last name, or an organization's name. After you review the list, you can select an existing record, or continue and create a new one.
Tip: Each record in the list matches the name of an individual or organization. If you enter additional details — such as address, email, or phone information — the match results improve.
When someone completes a form in Raiser's Edge NXT on behalf of themselves or an organization,
Note: To also check for existing records when people use online registration forms to register guests, you must configure the form. For more information, see Constituent Matching for Participant Records.
From Tools, Data health, you can clean up duplicates that slip into your database, such as through:
-
Imports added in database view
-
Integrations with other products
-
Online forms when matches with existing records aren't exact
Under Possible duplicates, select the number of duplicates to review a list of constituents Raiser's Edge NXTautomatically identifies as potential matches. From the list, you can select to compare the details between two records and then merge them if they represent the same constituent. For more information, see Possible Duplicates.
Note: WhenRaiser's Edge NXT automatically matches constituents with existing records, it requires name and email address fields to match exactly. However, to help you catch other types of duplicate records — such as records with typos — it relaxes how closely information must match in Tools, Data health. For more information, see Duplicate Detection Process.
Note: Don’t see some of these features? No need to worry. If all goes well based on feedback and usage, expect their wider release in future updates.
