Opportunity funding

Track gift amounts for each opportunity to measure effectiveness and determine if it meets expectations.

Ask

The ask amount shows how much you requested when you solicited the donor. Base this amount on your research of the prospect and their likely donation capacity. You may ask for more or less than you expect to receive, based on the donor's wealth capacity or likelihood to donate.

Tip: If you use ResearchPoint, view ratings to help determine the constituent's wealth capacity. For more information, see ResearchPoint Ratings.

Expected

The expected amount provides how much you realistically intend to receive as a result of the opportunity. Use this amount to help forecast projected revenue.

Funded

The funded amount shows how much the donor gave in response to the opportunity. Use this amount to plan additional asks. For example, if you expected to receive $10,000, but received only $5,000, adjust your next solicitation to a more realistic amount.

The funded amount may include any gift type received as a result of the opportunity, including one-time gifts, recurring gifts, cash payments, pledges, matching gift pledges, stock/property gifts, stock/property (sold) gifts, gifts-in-kind, and miscellaneous gifts.

To prevent double-counting, linking a pledge payment or recurring gift payment to an opportunity does not update the Funded amount automatically.

View these amounts under Funding on an opportunity's record or under Opportunities on the constituent's record. In Work center, use these amounts to filter and analyze your opportunities.

Tip: To analyze total funding amounts of multiple opportunities, such as for a specific time period or purpose, select Analysis, Fundraising dashboards, Opportunities. For more information, see Opportunity analysis.
