Analyze opportunities

Plan and track opportunities to build relationships with prospects and secure major gifts. To assess opportunity performance, select Analysis, Fundraising dashboards, Opportunities to view key metrics. Use this analysis to guide your next steps.

Key opportunity metrics include the following:

Tip: To view the Opportunities dashboard, select Add, Opportunities, Open.

Opportunity overview

View how many opportunities meet your filter criteria under Opportunity overview. See the total amount requested, expected, and raised for these opportunities. For definitions of these amounts, see Opportunity Funding.

Opportunities list

Review the list under Opportunitiesfor details about each opportunity, including constituent, status, purpose, expected amount, and expected date. To view more details, select the opportunity name to open its record. For more information, see Opportunity Records.

Tip: To view and manage a list of the opportunities that meet your filter criteria, select the Opportunities amount.

Opportunities by status

Analyze progress by viewing how many opportunities are at each stage of your solicitation process under Opportunities by status. For more information, see Opportunity Status Analysis.

Opportunities by purpose

See how many opportunities are at each stage of your solicitation under Opportunities by purpose. For more information, see Opportunity Purpose Analysis.

Projection accuracy, average difference, and average time

Compare asked, expected, and funded amounts for all active opportunities to set expectations and adjust ask amounts.

  • Projection accuracy: How closely total funding amounts match.

  • Average difference: The average variance between funding amounts per opportunity.

  • Average time: The average number of days between funding amounts per opportunity.

Tip: Base ask amounts on your research of prospects and how much you think they'll donate.

Opportunities by campaign

Compare how many opportunities support each campaign under Opportunities by campaign to identify neglected initiatives and align efforts with fundraising priorities. For more information, see Campaign Analysis for Opportunities.

Opportunities by fund

Opportunities by prospect status

Opportunities by fundraiser

Compare how many opportunities each fundraiser manages under Opportunities by fundraiser. Use this informationto balance assignments and identify fundraisers with heavy workloads. For more information, see Fundraiser Analysis for Opportunities.

Filter lists

Tip: By default, metrics under Opportunities include all active opportunities. To filter by criteria such as funding dates or status, use the dashboard filters. For more information, see Opportunity Analysis Filters.

Tip: To view records included in a metric, select the total or metric. For further analysis, select Create list to open the list, apply additional filters, choose columns, and save for future reuse. For more information, see Lists.

To analyze a fund in detail, select its name to open its record. For more information, see Fund Records.

Save views and PDFs

To save frequently used filters, select the criteria and save the view for personal reuse. For more information, see Saved Views of Dashboards.

To review the dashboard offline, download it as a PDF or set up automatic PDF delivery by email. For more information, see PDFs of Analyze Metrics.

Note: Metrics update within three hours of new or edited information. If reports haven’t been used in over a month, the initial data refresh may take up to 24 hours.
