Linked Gifts

Track the effectiveness of each opportunity by saving which gifts result from the effort. On an opportunity's record, view gifts linked to an effort, including the type, date, amount, and fund of each, under Funding. To open the record of a gift, select its amount. To view details about the gifts linked to a list of opportunities, include the Gifts column.

Note: Linking a pledge payment or recurring gift payment to an opportunity does not automatically update the Funded amount. This prevents double-counting.

Tip: Include linked gifts in the opportunity's Funded amount. For information, see Opportunity Funding Amounts.

Link a gift to an opportunity

In the database view, link a gift to an opportunity from either the gift record or the proposal record.

To link from the gift record:

1. Select Gift, Links, Proposal from the menu bar.

2. Choose which of the donor's opportunities to link to the gift.

3. Enter how much of the gift to apply to the opportunity.

4. Select OK.

To link from the opportunity’s proposal record:

1. Select Link to Gift on the General tab.

2. Select or enter the gift.

3. Select Save and Close.

4. Save how much of the gift to apply to the opportunity.
