Prospect Management
With Prospect Research Management, you can research a constituent as a prospective donor and track their giving preferences, financial information, and current classification and status in your moves management process. With these details, you can better develop strategies to cultivate the constituent relationship and determine their giving potential. On a constituent's record, you can view this information under Prospect management.
In the Prospect status field, you can view where the constituent is in your moves management process — such as Identification or Active — and how long they've spent in the current stage. You can also select the arrows on the timeline to quickly view and scroll through a history of their statuses. To view details about a status, highlight its section on the timeline. To view a list of the constituent's previous statuses, select Show status history. For recommendations on the stages and milestones to track as statuses and how to update the prospect status and details, see Prospect Status.
In the Classification field, you can view the type of prospect you identify the constituent as, such as Individual, Organization, Corporate, or Major Donor. To change the classification, select Edit , Classification. Update the information as necessary, and then select Save.
Tip: To view this detail in a list of constituents, select Choose columns , Classification, and Apply changes.
Note: You can manage available classifications from Classifications in Tables. For more information, see Tables.
With financial information, you can manage research about a constituent's wealth to estimate their capacity to give. Under Financial information summary, you can quickly view a breakdown of the constituent's total estimated assets. For more information, see Financial Information.
Under Contributions, you can view how much — and how many gifts — the constituent gave other organizations for philanthropic efforts, political campaigns, and other causes. For detailed information about a particular type of contribution, select either of its totals.
Note: The estimates under Contributions are based on the reasons for the constituent's giving. In the database view, this information is saved on their prospect record in the Reason field for the Gifts to other Organizations category. Giving toward "Philanthropic Gift" appears as such, "Federal Election Commission" appears as Political contributions, and everything else appears as Other.
Under Giving preferences, you can view which philanthropic interests the constituent will and won't donate to. Use these preferences to tailor targeted solicitations to match the constituent's interests and increase the likelihood for a gift. To view any notes or details saved about a philanthropic interest, select its comment .
Note: In the database view, you can manage a constituent's giving preferences as philanthropic interests in the General category of their prospect record.
