Format Addressee and Salutation Fields
Note: Don't see this yet? No need to worry. Expect its wider release in a future update.
Use the Addressee and Salutation fields to include a constituent's addressee or salutation in your query output. When you add either field to Output in a single-row query, an Edit format action is available from the field's menu so you can choose how the value is formatted for individuals and organizations.
The Addressee and Salutation fields are available on all existing Addressees and Salutations (formerly known as Addressees/Salutations) nodes.
Note: The Edit format action is available only for single-row queries. It is hidden on multi-row queries.
Add an Addressee or Salutation Field to a Query
-
Open the Query editor for a Constituent query.
-
On the Output tab, expand the Addressees and Salutations node.
-
Add the Addressee or Salutation field.
-
From the field's context menu, select Edit format.
Configure the Format
The Edit format panel has two sections. Configure how the value appears for each constituent type.
Format for Individuals
Under Individuals, choose how the value appears for individual constituents:
-
From individual — Return the addressee or salutation stored on the individual's record. Then set:
-
Use when available — The addressee or salutation to return when it exists on the record, such as Primary addressee or Primary salutation.
-
Otherwise use — The value to return when the preferred value is not present. Select <Name> to use the individual's name.
-
-
From configuration — Return an addressee or salutation type defined in Configuration. Select the Addressee format or Salutation format to use.
-
Use individual name — Return the individual's name as stored on the constituent record.
Format for Organizations
Under Organizations, choose how the field appears for organization constituents:
-
Organization name — Return the organization's name.
-
Leave blank — Return an empty value for organizations.
Select Include Constituent ID for organizations to append the constituent ID to the returned value for organization records.
Tip: The Addressees and Salutations node is a one-to-one node, so each node contributes at most one Addressee and one Salutation to your output. To include more than one, add the fields from a different Addressees and Salutations node — for example, Constituent, Addressees and Salutations and Constituent, Spouse Information, Addressees and Salutations. Each keeps its own format settings.
