Titles and Suffixes for Online Giving Forms

If your organization prefers to acknowledge supporters with a more formal salutation, turn on Title and Suffix fields so supporters can provide this information on Standard Donation, constituent, and membership forms.

Important: Title and suffix aren't turned on by default. You must turn on the individual titles and suffixes supporters can select before the fields are available to add to a form.

Configure Titles and Suffixes

Before you add title and suffix fields to a form, choose which ones supporters can select.

  1. Select Settings, and then select Tools.

  2. On Tool Settings, select Form settings.

  3. On Form settings, Update under Titles and suffixes.

    • For Titles, select the titles you want supporters to select on a form.

    • For Suffixes, select the suffixes you want supporters to select on a form.

Tip: To keep the supporter experience simple, turn on 10 or fewer titles and 10 or fewer suffixes.

  4. Your changes save automatically and apply the next time a supporter views a form with the Title or Suffix field.

Note: You can update the titles and suffixes available to choose for your forms when you select Tables from Settings. The table names are Titles and Suffixes.

Add Title and Suffix to a Form

After you select at least one title or suffix in Form settings, add the fields to a Standard Donation, constituent, or membership form under the Name field.

You can add Title and Suffix independently. For each field you add, you can:

  • Enter a custom label. For example, relabel Title as Salutation.

  • Require the field. A supporter can't submit the form without making a selection.

  • Add the field from Merge fields in a form's Thank you email.

Title and Suffix on Constituent Record

The form saves selected title and suffix values to the constituent record. If a field is left blank, existing values remain unchanged.
