Past due balances and late fees
A charge becomes Past due when it is not paid by its due date. Your past due balance is the total of every past due charge on the account.
Check whether you are past due
A status of Past due appears on your Current bill when a payment is missed.
When you have past due charges, your Amount due may be the sum of those charges rather than your next installment. To see exactly which charges are overdue, review what you owe on your current bill.
Late fees
Past due payments may incur a late fee. Whether late fees apply, how much they are, and how often they are added are all set by your school.
A late fee appears as a new charge on your account and increases your balance.
Holds on a student account
Schools can place a hold on an account with a past due balance. A hold can prevent a student from:
-
Receiving report cards
-
Sending transcripts
-
Requesting courses
-
Viewing schedules
-
Accessing grades
Your school decides when a hold is added and removed. Contact them if a hold is affecting the student.
Bring your account current
When you make a payment, select Past due balance to pay off everything that is overdue in one payment.
If a failed payment caused the charge to go past due, see when a payment does not go through.
Tip: Enrolling in Auto-Pay helps prevent missed due dates.
