Add or Copy Allocation Rates

Rates are values you define and associate with projects and endowments. Indirect cost rates help you calculate the amount of indirect costs that can be reimbursed from a grant. Portfolio allocations help your organization assign a target portfolio allocation using endowments. Use rates only if your organization plans to use indirect cost or portfolio allocations.

  1. From Settings, Allocations, under Rates, select Add, New indirect cost rate or New Portfolio allocation.

    • Indirect cost - Assign rates to one or more projects to charge reimbursable indirect costs to grants.

    • Portfolio allocation - Assign rates to one or more endowments.

To copy from an existing rate, select Copy from a rate's menu and follow the remaining steps below.

  2. Under Rates, enter a unique ID and description for easy identification.

Tip: Helpful descriptions such as "Facilities and admin costs" or "Overhead costs" further define the rate for tracking.

  3. Select a rate type (these are user-defined in Settings, Fields and tables, Tables).

  4. Set an active status.

  5. Define a rate value, start and end dates, and associate one or more projects or endowments.

When you enter a single rate value, an end date isn't required. If you enter multiple values, an end date is required for all values except for the last entry. Dates for multiple values can't overlap.

  6. Under Notes, add or edit additional details.

  7. Select Save.

Edit or Delete Allocation Rates

From Settings, Allocations, under Rates, select Edit or Delete from a rate's menu.

Tip: You can only delete rates when they aren't used by an allocation.
