Learn how to stop payments and reissue checks for Payment Assistant.
Cancel or Reissue a Payment with REPAY
With REPAY, you can cancel or reissue payments at no cost. Reissues are limited to five per month. You can stop only open or reissued check and virtual card payments, so ACH payments can't be stopped.
Cancel or Reissue a Payment with BILL
Note: Don’t see this yet? The ability to use BILL with Payment Assistant is currently in an Early Adopter Program (EAP) for some of our customers. Look for full support and general availability in a future release.
With BILL, the cost of a payment depends on BILL's per-payment pricing. BILL charges a fee for check and ACH payments, and virtual card payments are free. There's no charge to cancel a payment that BILL hasn't sent yet. Stopping a payment that BILL has already sent includes a stop payment fee, and reissuing it also includes the cost of the new payment.
When BILL Voids a Payment
When BILL voids a payment, BILL returns the funds to your funding bank account within 2 to 5 business days and emails the payment users in your organization. Learn how to stop a payment with BILL, and how BILL voids uncashed checks and unused virtual cards in Stale Payments for Payment Assistant.
Reissue a Returned Check with BILL
If the US Postal Service returns a check as undeliverable, BILL voids the check, credits the funds back, and emails you to fix the address and reissue the payment. BILL sends a reissued check to the address on file for the vendor, so correct the vendor's address before you reissue the payment.
ACH Payments Returned by the Vendor's Bank with BILL
If a vendor's bank returns an ACH payment, BILL doesn't retry the payment automatically. Void the payment and credit the funds back, or correct the vendor's bank information, then void and reissue the payment.
