Managing Security Scenario 3
The following scenario will help you to better understand how to manage security and assign privileges for your site.
Scenario: As the Site Administrator, you would like to have several Junior Administrators who can create email messages, but who cannot approve or send them. You would like to reserve the approval and final send decision for the full site administrators. The ability to create, but not send, email is already available as a default permission set that can be assigned to Admin Security Groups. Because we are talking about allowing the Junior Admins to access all of the email, we will not have to create any special security categories for email campaigns or quick email messages. We can simply create the new Admin Security Group, place the individuals who will create the email in that group, and then assign the specific permission set to them.
Note: These individuals will also have access to the Image Library and Stationery since these applications are needed for composing email. They will also have access to Email Reports.
The following steps will accomplish this scenario:
Creating a Security Group
Adding Members to the Group
Giving the Group Permission to Create Email Messages
Testing the Permissions
These are the same steps that you would use to set up a variety of Junior Admin groups for secondary management roles.
