Create a Page
Create a new PageBuilder Page by choosing to:
-
Create a New Page or Create a Single Component Page to start without existing content.
--OR--
-
Copy an existing Page to use as a model or edit an existing page for version control.
When you create a new Page, you'll select a layout and component areas for your content. You can add content immediately or later.
When you add content, an Add Content page shows the Page Wrapper and any empty component areas that are available for your content within the columns specified by the selected Page layout. You can preview your Page to see what the intended audience will see. Before you begin, you may want to review the types of content components available.
In the final step of Page creation (whether you add content now or not), you may be presented with several options to continue. You can always select Finish to add your new Page as a Draft. Depending on permissions, you may be able to approve and publish immediately. Or, your organization may require you to submit the Page to a colleague for approval. The Status displays as Pending when submitted for approval or Active when published.
Your new Page isn't viewable on your site until a version of it is approved and published, which will show as Active in the Status column of the Page Library.
Note: (a) Empty component areas are placeholders that don't take up actual space on the Page.
(b) If you change the layout of the Version, you may need to copy existing content from one component area and paste it into the appropriate location on the Page.
(c) Although you can create multiple Versions of a Page, only one Version of a Page may be Active at a time. To make different text on the Page viewable to a specific audience, create conditional statements with the Conditionals drop-down list in the HTML Editor. You can also create a Copy of the Page and change the Security Category to define the audience who can view it, but this may make it more difficult to update since you may need to track changes to two Pages.
