Create a Custom Task

You can create an original task from the Task List page.

To create a new task's configuration

  1. From the Tasks To Do List page, click the Task List tab.

  2. Click the Create a New Task link. The Task Types page opens with the available list of task types showing.

  3. On the Task Types page, click your new task type from the table displayed.

  4. On the Task Information page, for:

    1. Name, enter a descriptive label that may help other administrators identify the purpose of this task when looking in the Task List.

    2. Description, enter a short description to help other administrators identify the purpose of this task when looking in the Task List.

    3. Active?:

      • Leave the No radio button selected in order to run the task immediately, or to activate it later at a specific time or date from the Task List.

      • Or, click the Yes radio button to schedule this task to run at the next execution interval specified below. You will not be able to test this task or run it immediately if you click this radio button.

    4. Select or configure any custom options you have defined.

  5. Click the Save button. This page closes and the Task List page opens with your new task in the Task List.

    Note: If you did not select to make your task active, the Activate, and Run options display in the Actions column of your task. If the task is active, the Deactivate option displays.

  6. If you want to run your task:

    • At this time, refer to Running a Contact Task Immediately.

    • Only at the scheduled time and you have:

      • Clicked the Yes radio button for the Active option during configuration, click the Done button to close the Tasks application and display the Administrator Home Page.

      • Not made task active, click Activate. The system will schedule the task to run at the next interval of the time frame you selected for it (for example, tomorrow if the task is scheduled to run daily or one week from today if the task is scheduled to run monthly). You can click the Done button to close the Tasks application and display the Administrator Home Page.
