Credit Card Updater Service

Many credit cards are canceled and reissued every year causing a significant number of sustaining gifts to lapse. The Credit Card Updater service automatically receives updates to the expiration date, card type, and card number of cards that have been renewed or replaced.

The Credit Card Updater service is included as part of your Blackbaud Merchant Services standard rate.

Note: Only credit cards issued by banks who participate in the service are eligible for updates. See also the Credit Card Updater information in the Blackbaud Merchant Services documentation.

Luminate Online captures these interactions for updated credit cards:

  • Sustaining Gift CCU Update Received - Recorded when a card is updated. This interaction shows the old and new credit card information so you can see what changed: Card Number, Expiration Date, and Card Type

  • Sustainer Migration: Gift migrated with CCU Update - Recorded when gifts that use the Credit Card Updater migrate to Blackbaud Merchant Services

  • Sustainer Migration: Gift migrated without CCU Update - Recorded when gifts that don't use the Credit Card Updater are migrated to Blackbaud Merchant Services

These fields may show updates, depending on what changed (the card expiration date, the card number, or the card type):

  • Constituent360 Profile Tab - The Card Expiration Date field

  • Constituent360 Transactions Tab - The last four digits of the card and the expiration date, in the Account Information column of the Sustaining Gifts section

  • Constituent360 Transactions Tab - The last four digits of the card, the expiration date, and the card type, in the Amount column of the Transaction History section

  • Constituent360 Interactions Tab - A Sustaining Gift CCU Update Received or Sustaining Gift CCU Response interaction displays

  • Sustaining Gift Details Page - The last four digits of the card and the expiration date, in the Billing section

  • Sustaining Gift Details Page - The last four digits of the card and the expiration date, in the Payment Information section
