Honor Gift Data Element

The Honor Gift element allows donors to honor someone by name when making a gift. When donors check the box, the detailed honor fields display, allowing them to indicate the gift type and name of the honoree and the notification recipient.

The Honor Gift -- Show Honor Fields is a check box that controls exposing the other Honor Gift data elements when the option is selected by the donor. Add this option first before other Honor Gift data elements.

Use this element on forms where Honor Gifts are an option. Forms designed strictly for honor or memorial gifts, such as the Honor Gift Donation Form template, have no need for this check box, as all donors will potentially need the fields that this check box is designed to hide.

Because the Honor Gift -- Show Honor Fields element has no meaning if added alone, this section discusses adding all of the Honor Gift fields as a group. Adding this element to the form automatically moves over each option for Honor Field. Choose which fields you want on your form by removing individual honor fields, but be sure to leave the Show Honor Fields option first in the list of honor fields.

When editing the Honor Gift -- Show Honor Fields element in the Form Designer or from a Preview, configure the field label (if you choose to include one) and the text for the check box. Provide a label for this field as it displays on the Transaction Summary, enter donor hint text for the field, and decide whether you would like this box checked by default when first presented to the donor.
