Public and Primary Event Types

If you offer several different types of team fundraising events to your constituents, you may want to group certain events together for reporting and to make it easier for your constituents to locate the type of event they want to participate in.

To enable your constituents to locate specific types of events, you can create a Public Event Type (like a Run, Walk, Marathon, 10K, and so on) and associate it with a Primary Event Type. The Public Event Types live in their own library outside of the actual events and can be created and accessed from a tab in TeamRaiser.

You can define a new Primary Event Type when you create the Public Event Type associated with it or select an existing one (if it was created during an event configuration). Note that the new Primary Event Type defined here will display in the Primary Event Type drop-down list in the Identify Details page for all TeamRaiser events.

During the configuration of a TeamRaiser event, you can define a Primary Event Type (or select it from the drop-down list if it has already been defined) that enables you to group together a set of events for administrative and reporting purposes. Once a Primary Event Type is defined in within an event, it becomes available to use with other TeamRaiser events. For example, you may want to group together all events under a certain program type or all events within a type of participation (such as Run, Walk, Marathon, 10K, and so on.)

You may want to plan for and prepare the labels for these event types before configuring your event.
