Opportunity funding comparison

Track how much you ask, expect, and receive from donors for each opportunity. Compare these amounts to set expectations and adjust ask amounts to increase funding. To quickly compare funding amounts, view the metrics in Analysis, Fundraising dashboards, Opportunities.

Projection accuracy

Under Projection accuracy, compare how closely two funding amounts match for each opportunity. Use this information to determine whether opportunities raise as much as expected or asked.

Note: Fundraisers may ask for more or less than they expect to receive, depending on the constituent's wealth capacity and likelihood to give.

Average difference

Under Average difference, view the average variance between two funding amounts for each opportunity. Use this metric to see the difference between the amount raised and the amount expected or asked.

Average time

Under Average time, view the average number of days between funding amounts for each opportunity. Use this metric to gauge how long it takes to fund opportunities after solicitation and whether gifts arrive as anticipated.

Compare specific funding amounts

For each metric (Projection accuracy, Average difference, and Average time), you can compare specific funding amounts.

Expected vs asked

Use Expected vs asked metrics to compare how much you expect to raise to the amount you ask for. Use these comparisons to gauge:

  • Whether fundraisers expect to receive more or less than they ask for.

  • How long, on average, it takes to receive a gift.

Tip: Base ask amounts on your research of the prospects and their likely donation capacity.

Funded vs expected

Use Funded vs expected metrics to compare the amount received to the amount anticipated. Use these comparisons to gauge:

  • Whether constituents give more or less than expected.

  • Whether constituents give in response to an opportunity when anticipated.

Tip: If gifts received doesn't meet expectations, review how you market your organization and mission to prospects. For information and best practices, see Donor acquisition and retention.

Funded vs asked

Use the Funded vs asked metrics to compare the amount received to the amount requested. Use these comparisons to gauge:

  • Whether constituents give more or less than requested.

  • How long it takes to receive gifts after solicitation.

Tip: With Wealth Analytics, Target Analytics provides suggested minimum and maximum ask amounts for your constituents. For more information, see Blackbaud Analytics Ratings.

For more information about these amounts, see Opportunity funding.
