Opportunity Funding Comparison
For each opportunity, you can track how much you ask, expect, and receive from the donor as a result of the effort. While you can analyze each funding amount individually, we recommend you compare them to help set expectations and adjust ask amounts as necessary to increase funding. To quickly compare the funding amounts of opportunities, refer to the metrics in Fundraising, Analyze, Opportunities.
Under Projection accuracy, you can quickly compare how well two of the opportunities' total funding amounts match each other. With this information, you can determine whether opportunities raise as much funds as expected or asked.
Note: Keep in mind, fundraisers may intentionally ask for more or less than they expect to receive, depending on the constituent's wealth capacity and likelihood to give.
Under Average difference, you can quickly view how two funding amounts differ — on average — for each opportunity. With this information, you can quickly view — in revenue — the difference between the amount an opportunity actually raises and how much its fundraiser expected or asked for.
Under Average time, you can quick view how many days — on average — between funding amounts for each opportunity. With this information, you can quickly gauge how long it takes to fund opportunities after their solicitation and whether you receive gifts when anticipated.
For each metric, you can compare specific funding amounts.
With the Expected vs asked metrics, you can compare — at a glance — how much you anticipate to raise through the opportunities to the amount you ask for. With these comparisons, you can quickly gauge:
-
Whether fundraisers expect to receive more or less than they ask for through opportunities (and by how much, on average).
-
How long — on average — fundraisers expect it to take to receive a gift after its solicitation through an opportunity.
Tip: Base ask amounts on your research of the prospects and how much you think they'll donate. You may ask for more or less than you expect, based on their wealth capacity or likelihood to donate.
To help set expectations, the Funded vs expected metrics compare the amount received through the opportunities to how much you anticipated. With these comparisons, you can quickly gauge:
-
Whether constituents give more or less than anticipated through opportunities (and by how much, on average).
-
Whether constituents give in response to an opportunity when anticipated, on average.
Tip: If the gifts received fail to live up to your expectations, analyze how you market your organization and mission to prospects. For information and best practices, see Donor Acquisition and Retention.
To help determine ask amounts, the Funded vs asked metrics compare how the amount received through opportunities to how much you requested. With these comparisons, you can quickly gauge:
-
Whether constituents give more or less than requested through opportunities (and by how much, on average).
-
How long — on average — it takes a constituent to give in response to an opportunity after its solicitation.
Tip: With Wealth Analytics, Target Analytics uses advanced analytics to provide suggested minimum and maximum ask amounts for your constituents. For more information, see Blackbaud NXT Ratings.
