Wealth Ratings Best Practices
Under Ratings on a constituent's record, you can view wealth information based on your organization's own prospect research and ratings automatically provided from Target Analytics, a division of Blackbaud Inc. While Target Analytics rates your constituents based on their assets, capacity to give, and other public wealth information, these ratings are just recommendations to help your prospect research. For more accurate wealth information, use these ratings in tandem with other tools and analysis.
With the optional Wealth Analytics, Target Analytics returns a suggested donor type and next ask amount for each constituent, in addition to their overall wealth rating. With this information, you can help identify which donors to ask for larger gifts or who to steward from annual donors to major gift donors. For more information, see Blackbaud NXT Ratings.
With ResearchPoint, your organization can set a custom formula to screen constituents and prospects to determine their overall wealth capacity. You can use this information — often the result of more considered, crafted research and investigation — for more personal insight into the donor's wealth and capacity to give. For more information, see ResearchPoint Ratings.
Since people who donate once are likely to do so again, you can analyze the recency, frequency, and monetary totals of a donor's giving to help gauge their likelihood to give. For information, see RFM Giving Analysis.
Wealth doesn't necessarily indicate philanthropy. To help determine whether a constituent with the capacity to give also has a likelihood to give, research their giving preferences, assets, contributions to other organizations, and other financial information. With Prospect Research Management, you can track these details to better develop strategies to cultivate a relationship with a constituent and determine their giving potential. For more information, see Prospect Management.
