Track Donation Forms with Google Analytics and Tag Manager

You can use Google Analytics (GA) or Google Tag Manager (GTM) to gain insights about your constituents. However, they have different uses:

  • Google Analytics measures and reports data. It helps track and analyze how visitors interact with your website. It gives you reports on traffic, user behavior, and conversions so you can make informed decisions. For example, you can use it to see which donation forms get the most visits and how long donors stay on the form.

  • Google Tag Manager organizes and deploys tags that collect data. It manages tracking codes (tags) without editing your site’s code directly. It acts as a container where you can add, update, or remove tags easily. For example, add a marketing pixel or custom event without changing your site’s code.
