Authentication Details

Under Authentication details on your Blackbaud profile, you can view your Blackbaud ID email address and authentication type, and if you authenticate through Blackbaud's secure service, you can also edit your email address and password.

Your Blackbaud ID is your central identity to securely sign in to Blackbaud solutions and services. For more information, see the Blackbaud ID overview.

To access your Blackbaud account and manage your Blackbaud ID, you can:

  • Sign in to a Blackbaud solution with your Blackbaud ID, and select your account from your initials in the top-right of the navigation.

  • Sign in through the Blackbaud ID sign-in page and select Profile.

Note: If you authenticate through a social sign-in or if your organization enables single sign-on, you don't manage your email address or password on your profile. Instead, you manage these details through the social networking service or your identity provider.

You can perform the following tasks related to your Blackbaud ID:

Edit Email Address

With Blackbaud ID, you use your email address to securely sign in to Blackbaud solutions and services. The email address, which appears at the top of your profile, also receives communications from Blackbaud.

If you authenticate through Blackbaud's secure authentication service, you can change your email address as necessary. But if you authenticate through a social sign-in or if your organization enables single sign-on, you don't manage your email address on your profile. Instead, you manage it through the social networking service or your identity provider.

  1. On your profile, select the button beside Authentication details and then select Edit email address.

  2. To confirm your identity, enter your password.

  3. Enter and confirm the new email address.

  4. Select Send email.

  5. Check your inbox at the new address for a confirmation email, and follow the instructions to confirm the new email address.

Edit Password

You can reset your password at any time if you authenticate through Blackbaud's secure service. Make sure to change it if you think your account was compromised. For information about Blackbaud's password requirements, see Password.

Keep in mind that if you authenticate through a social sign-in or if your organization enables single sign-on, you don't manage your password on your profile. Instead, you manage it through the social networking service or your identity provider.

  1. On your profile, select the button beside Authentication details and then select Edit password.

  2. To confirm your identity, enter your current password.

  3. Enter and confirm the new password.

  4. Select Continue.

Delete Your Blackbaud ID

You can delete your Blackbaud ID if isn't associated with any organizations. This action permanently deletes all personally identifiable information on your profile. To delete any other data stored and owned by Blackbaud, you can file a request.

Warning: This action isn't reversible. Before you proceed, make sure you want to permanently delete your Blackbaud ID.

You can't delete your Blackbaud ID if you authenticate through an organization's single sign-on connection because it is associated with that organization.

  1. On your profile, select the button beside Authentication details and then select Delete account. A confirmation screen appears.

    Note: If your Blackbaud ID is associated with any organizations, a prompt explains that you must remove them from your account before you can delete your Blackbaud ID. To remove an organization, select its button under My organizations and then select the option to remove yourself. You must perform this action for all organizations, including nonprofits, schools, and universities. Then you can select Delete account again.

  2. To acknowledge that you can't undo this action, select I understand that this action isn't reversible.

  3. Select Delete. A screen to confirm your identity appears.

  4. Go to your inbox and open the new email from Blackbaud Authentication Services.

  5. Copy the confirmation code.

  6. Return to the confirmation screen and enter the code.

  7. To sign out and permanently delete your Blackbaud ID, select Delete.
