Update application questions
Occasionally, you may want to make changes to questions (e.g., provide more context in a question's text).
To make sure you don't alter submitted applications, pay attention to the guidelines below.
Review associated opportunities
Since individual questions can appear on multiple opportunities, any change you make may have far-reaching implications (e.g., breaking existing qualifications).
To see a list of associated opportunities for a question:
-
Locate the question.
-
Select Edit.
-
At the top right, select Opportunities.
-
From here, you can see which opportunities use the question, as well as which opportunities use the question in qualifications.
-
Before making any changes to your question, review all Qualifying opportunities.
What changes can occur during an award cycle
Since these changes don't affect submitted applications, they're safe to make during an award cycle:
-
Updating question text or help text
-
Removing a question
For more on editing questions, see Add questions.
What changes should occur between award cycles
Since these changes can affect or disqualify submitted applications, they should be made between award cycles:
-
Adding a question
-
Making a question Required
-
Adding or changing an answer choice
-
Archiving a question
-
Removing answer choice
For more information on award cycles and cycle management, see Request cycle management.
Remove a question
To remove a question from a single opportunity, application, etc:
-
Go to its Questions tab.
-
Under Actions, select X.
-
Select Update Questions.
Remove a question from your system
You can archive questions to permanently remove them from your system.
Note: Since archiving a question removes all data from active opportunities, make sure you review all existing opportunities and qualifications. Make sure all relevant opportunities are archived to save the question's information.
To archive a question:
-
Locate the question.
-
Select Edit.
-
Select Archive.
