Each time you run a paperless mandate instruction process, the program prepares a transmission file that contains the instruction records generated by the process. You can download the transmission file to send to your organisation’s bank electronically as a paperless mandate via portable memory, as an email attachment, or through a website. You and your bank should decide the best way to communicate this information. The bank uses the transmission file to manage direct debit transactions through BACS, such as to ensure the constituent’s bank account information is set up correctly or to cancel a DDI. BACS will respond to the transmission file, to either reject or accept the instruction records or requests for payment. Before you can process a constituent’s direct debit transaction, BACS must approve the instruction records to set up the account and the request for payment.
On the paperless mandate instruction process status page, you can download a transmission file for the most recent instance of the process or for a previous instance.
