Action Required
From Action Required, employees can take action on their donations in Stranded Funds Automation (SFA) and donations at risk of entering SFA.
Note: Action Required only displays in the community navigation if the employee has an action they can take.
The action the employee can take for each donation appears in the Action Required column.
Contact Organization
Donations with the Contact Organization action are at risk of entering SFA. We ask employees to contact the organization to help keep the transaction from entering SFA.
Currently, the Contact Organization action is only available for stale checks.
Employees can select Contact Organization to see a sample message they can send to the charity. This message encourages nonprofits to deposit their stale check or join Blackbaud Verified Network to request a new payment.
Tip: Charities can request a new check payment or add a digital payment option in Blackbaud Verified Network.
If we are not able to disburse a payment, the donation enters SFA for redirection.
Redirect Transaction
Donations with the Redirect Transaction action have entered SFA. The employee can now select a new charity to receive their donation.
Employees can choose a redirect organization if:
-
The donation is an employee dollar donation and the employee chose California as their state of residence, or
-
The donation is a company dollar donation and the employer's SFA Settings allow employees to choose a redirect organization
Note: If a donation in SFA does not appear in Action Required, the donation was automatically redirected. See How Stranded Funds Automation Works.
Redirect Options
Depending on their community's SFA settings, employees can see the following options when they redirect a donation:
-
Preferred alternate organization: Admins can select one alternate organization for each enabled processor. This nonprofit is featured as a preferred option.
-
Other suggested organizations: Admins can select up to four additional suggested organizations for each enabled processor.
-
Reissue to original organization: The donor can choose to issue a new payment to the original organization. This option cannot be turned off, but it may be unavailable if the charity is ineligible for giving.
-
Search for another organization: If enabled, the donor can search for an eligible charity. Eligible charities are determined by the donation’s original charity bucket.
-
Donate to donation processor: If all other redirect options are turned off, currently ineligible to receive funds, or not configured, donors will have the option to donate their stranded funds to the processor.
Note: Because stranded funds must be redirected to an organization with the same processor as the original organization, only charities with the required processor appear when the employee selects a redirect option.
For stranded funds tied to a recurring payroll pledge, we cancel the pledge when the donation enters SFA. For donors from California, selecting a redirect charity creates a new recurring payroll pledge to the new charity. The original pledge is still cancelled.
If the donor does not select a redirect organization before the 30-day deadline, or if the donor selects the Reissue to original organization option and the funds go stale again, the donation is automatically redirected to the employer's preferred alternate organization.
