Create a volunteer grant

Admins can set up volunteer grants by creating a match program from CSRconnect Admin Portal, Admin tools, Program Management, Match Programs.

Use the list below to learn more about match program setup for volunteer grants. Work with your Implementation Manager or Customer Success Manager for configuration and training.

Tip: Match caps are the match limit that applies to your employees. To set a cap that includes various match programs, see Match settings. Use match programs to customize caps for different donation types or employee types.

Program

  1. Select Add Match Program.

  2. Select Volunteer Related Grant under Program Type you are setting up. The program types align with donation types in reporting.

  3. Select a Volunteer Grant Type:

    • Individual Grant (Count Individually logged hours only)

    • Team Grant (Team events only - creator/organizer must apply)

    • Individual Grant (Count all hours including team)

  4. Select Active to activate the program.

  5. Select Only for Charity Board Member to limit this program to employees with an active board membership to that charity.

General Details

  1. Enter a Name for this program. The name is visible in reporting and to employees.

  2. Enter a Description. This is visible to employees.

  3. Select a Start Date. This is the first donation date or pledge creation date that is eligible for this program.

  4. Select an End Date. This is the last donation date or pledge creation date that is eligible for this program.

  5. Set a Redemption End Date, which is the last date an employee can request a volunteer grant for this program. The donation date or pledge creation date must fall between the start and end dates.

    • Example: For your yearly volunteer grant program, employees can have until the end of January of the following year to submit their volunteer grant requests.

  6. If you wish to set a date range for eligibility instead of a specific end date, select Rolling Match Redemption. If selected, you must enter a Number of Days After Donation.

    • Example: For programs with a 90-day rolling eligibility, employees can request a volunteer grant for 90 days after their donation date.

  7. Select a Time Zone for your selected times.

Settings

  1. Under Custom Question Set, select Change custom question set to program, then select a custom question set to embed in the redemption flow. Select Add custom question set to program.

  2. Select a Match Setting for this program.

  3. Under Employee Category, you can limit this program to certain employees. Leave this field blank to apply the program to all employees.

  4. Under Program Specific Cap, you can set a cap for this program.

Tip: To set a cap that applies across different donation types, use Match settings.

  5. To require approval, select Need YC Admin Approval. Admins will have to approve requests from Volunteer Grant Requests or the Approvals Manager. If this setting is not checked, volunteer grants will be auto-approved and will not have to be reviewed.

  6. To require that the nonprofit verifies the participation, select NPO Hour Verification. If enabled, a charity admin verify the volunteer hours in the Blackbaud Verified Network.
