As a teacher or advisor, see a student’s view
Schools can enable some employees to view Blackbaud Education Management as though they were a specific student or advisee. Use "view as" to help troubleshoot or demonstrate functions and content as seen by students or advisees.
Your security roles and tasks affect how you'll access another user's view.
-
From your roster, find a student or advisee and go to their user profile. View their Contact card. Under the header, select View as user.
-
From a school directory, find a student or advisee and go to their user profile. View their Contact card. Under the header, select View as user.
-
Use the People Finder to go to the user's profile in Core. Under the header, select View as user.
A blue “banner” appears across the top of the user interface and reminds you who you're viewing as. When you're done, select End viewing as.
Tip: Need to take a screen shot or record a video? When you select an area to capture with your recording tool, select the area below the banner or crop the banner out when you edit.
Unlike impersonation, users can't save changes or take action on the student's behalf. "View as" is view only. Social security numbers (SSN), credit cards, medical data, and other highly secured information are also hidden from view.
Platform managers configure security roles and tasks for users. If you're unsure why a user can (or can’t) “view as” another user, use the access checker. To review who used "view as user," who they viewed, and when, view the history.
