Transaction Codes Analysis

Transaction codes are additional fields on each transaction. They help you further categorize info for reports and fiscal year closings. Codes can be required on each transaction and you can choose to balance transactions by each code. They can also help mimimize the use of long account strings when identifying transactions.

Tip: You can customize up to five transaction codes from General ledger, Settings, GL setup, Transaction codes. For example, you may want to use labels such as "Grants" or "Performance" for more targeted tracking based on your organization's needs. The labels you enter are used as dashboard names. Prior to customizing your label names, these are initially listed with a generic transaction code label and you can choose to view them with or without starting and ending balances. For more info, see Transaction Codes.

To quickly assess your organization's transaction activity across all accounts, select a transaction code dashboard from Analysis, Dashboards.

Quick tips

  • When you apply filters, all metrics in the dashboard are updated. For more information, see Transaction Codes Analysis Filters.

  • If transaction code values are blank, make sure they're set up correctly in General ledger, Settings, GL setup, Transaction codes.

  • If you've defined codes, values may be blank if the values that meet the filter criteria are inactive.
