Calculate Audience

Initial estimate

Use the audience calculation as a quality check for your audience selection. Ensure the expected number of recipients is approximately what you expected. This helps avoid errors like accidentally sending a targeted email to the entire house file, or excluding significant audience segments when sending important announcements.

Note: Although Centers are respected in the audience filtering, the initial calculation may not reflect this.

Send time calculations

The audience is initially calculated as a sum of all the members of all of the groups included in the Send to audience list. This does not take into account emails belonging to multiple groups.

Recipient metrics

The audience is recalculated when you schedule the send date and time, or immediate send. At this point, specified groups will be rebuilt and the number of email addresses being used is displayed. This cannot account for emails that may not be reached due to incorrect addresses, spam traps, or other obstacles.
