Spam Check Report
The Spam Check report is a process that runs on an email message in Email Campaigns, Quick Email, and Coaching Email in TeamRaiser. Your message is evaluated for its potential to be marked as spam using SpamAssasin.
Spam is also called "junk mail” and is considered unwanted email that can be blocked from a recipient's inbox by an email provider.
The Score
Running the Spam Check on your message displays a score based on specific SpamAssasin rules. Suggested changes display to lower the score based on a rule. Not all rules have explanations, but usually there's enough information to help you lower the score.
The score determines how likely it is that popular email service providers, such as Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and AOL, will mark the message as spam. Scores higher than 5.0 are considered spam by SpamAssassin; however it’s preferable to have a score below 1.0.
Don’t spend a lot of effort trying to get the score to 0. Instead, make updates based on the suggestions and try to get your score below 1.0, if possible. Remember, these are indicators that your message might be considered spam.
If the error, "We're sorry, but the Spam Report service is temporarily offline. Try again later," displays, either the email has no content (is blank) or SpamAssassin is down. Either add content to your email or try again later.
The Procedure
You can run the Spam Check report as part of the review and testing procedures while the message is in the draft status. However, it will run automatically when you approve the message and the spam rating (score) will display. The advantage of running the report yourself is that you're immediately offered suggestions for any issues in the message that you may be able to correct right away. To run Span Check, the message must be in the draft status. See Email Campaigns - Spam Check, Quick Email - Spam Check, and Coaching Emails - Spam Check.
You can view the spam rating of a message after it has been sent by adding the Spam Rating column to the Email Message Report in Report Writer.
