Profile Information
At the top of a constituent record, the profile information provides pertinent details, including their name, spouse, and constituent codes.
To help identify a constituent or personalize their record, a photo or image — such as their selfie or company logo — may appear as a profile picture. Otherwise, the constituent's initials appear. For information about how to upload a picture for a constituent, see Profile Pictures.
At the top of a constituent's record, their name appears as it does throughout the program, such as in lists, search results, and dashboards. For an individual, this display name includes the first name, middle initial, and last name. For more information, see Names.
In the Preferred name field, you can view any informal name the constituent would rather go by. For more information, see Names.
Note: In the database view, preferred names are called nicknames.
To help guide your interactions with a constituent, you can view any important status details under their name.
-
Deceased appears when the constituent has passed away and been marked as deceased. For more information, see Deceased Individuals.
-
Inactive appears when the constituent has been marked as inactive, such as to retain their history with your organization despite a lack of activity. For more information, see Inactive Constituents.
-
Fundraiser appears when the constituent works to secure gifts and manage relationships with others on behalf of your organization. For more information, see Fundraisers.
-
Gives anonymously appears when the constituent requests to keep their giving private. For more information, see Anonymous Giving.
-

Tip: To track this information, select Mark as and choose their status. For details, see Constituent Statuses.
If an individual has a spousal relationship, the Spouse field displays the name of the husband, wife, or partner. If the spouse is also a constituent, you can select their name to open their constituent record. For information about how to manage spousal information, see Relationships.
Note: When you add a spousal relationship between two constituents in the database view, you can select which to designate as the "head of household" for mailings and whether to automatically soft credit one for gifts from the other.
Note: If a constituent's spouse has passed away, Deceased appears next to their name. For more information, see Deceased Individuals.
The Former name field displays the name an individual previously went by, such as before a name change or getting married. For more information, see Names.
Note: In the database view, former names are called maiden names.
The Fundraisers field displays the names of those assigned to manage the relationship with the constituent. To open a fundraiser's constituent record, select their name. For more information, see Fundraisers.
Tip: Under Assigned fundraisers, you can view additional details about an assigned fundraiser, including their type and the time frame of their assignment. For more information, see Fundraiser Assignments.
Under Constituent codes, you can view the constituent's affiliation with your organization, such as Board member, Vendor, or Volunteer. A constituent may have multiple constituent codes, such as someone who both volunteers and serves on your Board of Directors. For more information, see Constituent Codes.
To help cultivate your relationship with a constituent, you can pin and view a note at the top of their record to quickly summarize information about them you find valuable, such as their personal details and history with your organization. For details, see Summary Notes.
Under Membership, you can view details about the constituent's most recent involvement in your organization's membership program, including the category and current standing.
-
For an active membership, except for lifetime memberships, the current start and end dates appear.
Note: If the constituent has multiple active memberships, the one they started earliest appears. If they started multiple memberships on the same date, the one that expires last appears.
-
For a lifetime membership, which doesn't expire, only the start date appears.
-
For a lapsed membership, the date when it expired appears.
-
For a dropped membership, the date when it was marked as Drop in the database view appears.
Tip: With the optional Membership Management module, you can view and manage a constituent's full membership activity from the Membership tab of the constituent's record in the database view. For more information and best practices about membership standings, see Membership Standings.
