Knowledge
Knowledge entries provide information the agent can reference, such as upcoming events, active initiatives, and organizational information. Unlike Brand voice, which influences how the agent writes in tone and style, knowledge provides what the agent knows.
For example, you can add information about:
-
Upcoming events and registration details
-
Current fundraising campaigns or initiatives
-
Programs and services your organization provides
-
Recognition programs or giving societies
-
Other information constituents may ask about or find relevant
To search an entry, use Find in this list and search by name. To edit an entry, select the name or menu (...) next to the entry and select Edit. You can also:
Review a Knowledge Entry
Routinely review entries to keep content current. To see entries assigned to you for review, select My review items next to + New knowledge entry.
-
Under Settings on the Development Agent page, select Knowledge.
-
Select the entry name or the menu (...) next to the entry and choose Edit.
-
Review and make any necessary content updates, and select Save.
-
Select the menu (...) next to the entry and choose Mark reviewed to capture the reviewer name and date.
Tip: If a different reviewer completes the review, the assigned reviewer does not change unless specifically updated.
Updated entries impact future content generation. Because the agent generates each communication about seven days before its scheduled send date, upcoming communications generated after your update can reflect the change, but content that's already generated and scheduled is unaffected.
Add a Knowledge Entry
-
Under Settings on the Development Agent page, select Knowledge.
-
Select + New knowledge entry to open the entry form.
-
In Name, enter a name to identify this entry in the list.
-
In Text content, enter or paste the content you want the agent to reference. Each entry can include up to 10,000 characters. For best results, add constituent-facing content the agent can reuse or adapt in communications, and keep each entry focused on a single topic, such as one program, event, initiative, or impact story. Focused entries help the agent identify and use the most relevant information when generating communications. Don't enter instructions written to the agent, such as "Use this when..." or "Tell the donor..."
The agent can share URLs included in a Knowledge entry, but it cannot access or interpret content from those URLs.
Note: Document uploads aren't currently supported. Copy and paste relevant text from the document into the entry.
-
In Instructions, select the Content type for the entry to influence how the agent uses information when generating communications. Choose:
-
Organizational Fact for facts about your organization, such as its history, location, size, affiliations, or other background information.
-
Program or Initiative for details about a specific program, campaign, event, service, or initiative the agent can reference when communicating with constituents.
-
Impact Story – for a story, testimonial, or example that demonstrates the impact of your organization's work. The agent can use these stories to make communications more personal and meaningful.
Note: Organizational Fact and Program or Initiative entries help establish the organization's core information available to the agent. Impact Story entries are used when the agent is looking for stories that demonstrate organizational impact.
Note: Mission statements are sourced only from your organization's Blackbaud Verified Network profile. Manual mission statement Knowledge entries are no longer used. To update your mission statement, see Manage Your Nonprofit Profile.

In Valid dates, set a date range for when this content is active. Leave both fields blank if the content is always valid. Valid dates are useful for time-sensitive content such as event announcements or seasonal campaigns.
-
In Start date, add the date the content becomes active in the format (MM/DD/YYYY).
-
In End date, add the date the content expires (MM/DD/YYYY). After this date, the agent will no longer reference this entry.
-
-
In Content review, assign a reviewer and review frequency to help keep the entry current.
-
In Review frequency, choose how often to review this entry: every 30, 60, 90, 180, or 365 days.
-
For Reviewer, add the person responsible for reviewing the entry on the scheduled cadence. At the selected interval, the reviewer receives a notification in the notification bell at the top of Raiser's Edge NXT.
Note: Reviewers need Development Agent permissions in Raiser's Edge NXT. Any staff with the permissions can edit an entry, even if the entry is assigned to a different person.
