Delayed Self-Pledge
Delayed Self-Pledge (DSP) is a commitment made by a participant to pay any difference between a pledge to raise a certain amount of money and the actual amount raised by a due date. In a single payment, the participant pays the remainder of what is owed to meet the goal. Delayed Self-Pledge is an optional feature.
Note: Contact Blackbaud Support to enable this feature.
Luminate Online offers a newer One-Step Delayed Self-Pledge (Recommended), and the original Two-Step Delayed Self-Pledge. The "one-step" vs "two-step" process refers to the experience a participant has when registering. In both styles, a registration fee holds the credit card information as a soft credit for the pledge so that the funds can be collected when due. For one-step, only one online form (one step) is used. In the two-step process, the participant completes two forms: one for the event, and one for the pledge.
Tip: We recommend using the one-step process for Delayed Self-Pledge. The one-step process enforces a cap on the amount that participants must pay, so that they are only responsible for meeting the minimum fundraising goal set on the participation type, and not for any extra amount entered by the participant. The two-step process permits any pledge amount that a participant might enter, even if that amount exceeds the minimum fundraising goal set on the participation type. For more information about the differences of one- and two-step DSP, see FAQ: Delayed Self-Pledge .
DSPs are associated with a participation type. A DSP participation type enables participants to raise money for the organization while covering some or all of the entrance fees, or it can also help when the event has expensive overhead costs.
After the fundraising deadline passes, collect the committed DSP funds in one of two ways:
(For one-step DSP, and two-step when Support has enabled two-step pledges to display in the list) Process pledges from the Delayed Self-Pledges tab when you manage a TeamRaiser.
(For two-step DSP) Create the Delayed Self-Pledge Report in Report Writer to generate the amount each participants owes.
No matter which DSP feature you use, you must also configure your TeamRaiser's participation type to support Delayed Self-Pledge.
