Customizing your Raiser's Edge NXT Home Page

The customizable Home page enables you to select which information is important for you to see when you log in each day. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to get started customizing your Raiser's Edge NXT Home page, including how to add and configure tiles.

Note: Don’t see this yet? The ability to customize your Home page is currently in Limited Availability (LA) for some of our customers. Look for full support and general availability in a future release.

Before you get started

Some of the options you'll learn about for customizing your Home page are dependent on permissions. If you can't select or configure an option for your Home page, review the Home Page Permissions help for how to have an admin adjust your access.

Tip: Your Home page is yours and yours alone. Don't be afraid to experiment. Your changes won't affect anyone else's Home page. If you set up your page and it's not quite right, change it.

Add tiles

Navigate to the Home page and begin by selecting Customize page and reviewing the tile options. Tiles, the blocks on the Home page, represent key data in snapshot form and enable you to drill in where necessary. Tiles are a combination of standard ones built and native to Raiser's Edge NXT and SKY Add-ins tiles.

SKY Add-ins are built as independent functionality that integrates into the user interface of Blackbaud solutions. They are implemented as web applications that run external to Raiser's Edge NXT, but they are rendered to look like native Blackbaud functionality. Blackbaud, Blackbaud partners, and 3rd party developers, such as a developer at your organization, can build add-ins that enable you to extend the functionality of Raiser's Edge NXT. Thus, they provide your organization the ability to customize the solution to your organization's needs. To see what SKY Add-ins are available, browse the Blackbaud Marketplace. You can even build your own SKY Add-ins using our SKY Developer tools, including low-code options. Select tiles

Review the list of standard tiles below and then select the standard and add-in tiles that would help you with your job. For some of the tiles, you'll have a chance to further customize them later on in this tutorial. If you're not sure which ones would benefit you the most, select all or the ones that seem most interesting and then you can revise your selections later.

Tip: Tile availability is dependent on your Raiser's Edge NXT permissions. If you don't see a tile listed below, review the Home Page Permissions help for how to have an admin adjust your access.

  • Add-in tiles ClosedWhen you customize the Home page, you can select to show add-in tiles. These tiles are specific to your organization and based on the applications connected to your Blackbaud environment from the Blackbaud Marketplace.

  • Appeal tracker ClosedTo help you monitor and analyze the effectiveness of your appeals, use the information on the Appeal tracker tile to quickly assess which appeals are generating the most donations and identify areas for potential improvement.

  • Campaign tracker ClosedTo help you monitor and analyze the effectiveness of your campaigns, use the information on the Campaign tracker tile to quickly assess which campaigns are generating the most donations and identify areas for potential improvement.

  • Event tracker ClosedTo monitor progress and stay on track toward your goals, use the Event tracker tile for a quick overview of key metrics related to the events, such as attendees and funds raised against the goal.

  • Favorite queries ClosedTo help you quickly access and execute your favorite queries, use the Favorite queries tile. Only queries you have added to your favorites are available for display on the home page. From Analysis, Query, to manage your favorite queries, select Add to Favorites or Remove from Favorites from the query’s menu.

  • Fund tracker ClosedTo help you monitor and analyze the effectiveness of your funds, use the information on the Fund tracker tile to quickly assess which funds are generating the most donations and identify areas for potential improvement.

  • Fundraiser performance ClosedTo view key fundraiser information, such as the amount of credit received in the current year, the percentage of major gifts, and high-value actions needing attention, the Fundraiser performance tile offers a concise summary of the fundraiser's performance. To quickly assess progress towards goals, understand the impact of major donations, and identify critical areas requiring focus, use the info on the tile to enable more effective management of fundraising activities.

  • Fundraising summary ClosedTo access key metrics and insights into fundraising activities, use the Fundraising summary tile to see an overview of revenue generated through various campaigns, funds, and appeals. This tile features a comparative chart showing the revenue for the current year versus the previous year to give you a clear and immediate insight into the performance and trends of your fundraising efforts.

  • My actions ClosedTo improve productivity and streamline your work, use the My actions tile to quickly access your incomplete action items. You can see and interact with your tasks, reducing the time spent navigating through the application to find important information. If you don't have any actions that meet the criteria, you can add an action from the tile.

  • Opportunity snapshotClosedTo make informed decisions and identify trends or areas needing attention, use the Opportunity snapshot tile to better understand the distribution and volume of opportunities.

  • Prospect Insights ClosedShows your Prospect Insight's portfolio quality. The portfolio quality shows the proportion of initial and current high potential prospects. For more information, see Get started with Prospect Insights tutorial.

  • Recent gifts ClosedTo increase visibility around latest contributions, use the Recent gifts tile to review recent gifts received in the last 7 days from constituents. This tile shows a snapshot of recent gifts, including the constituent's name, the gift amount, gift type and gift received date.

  • Updates ClosedProvides important announcements, especially when new features are released. Raiser's Edge NXT introduces new and enhanced features on a frequent basis. If you need to catch up on what you missed, you can also review a recap of recently released new features.

 

Add quick links

Now that you've chosen some tiles, on the Customize Home page modal, select the Quick links tab. Do you have favorite pages or tasks in Raiser's Edge NXT? Do you have external websites you use frequently for your role? Quick links enable you to create shortcuts to your favorite pages or resource.

Select Add quick link to add a new link. Provide the entire URL and a name. For Raiser's Edge NXT links, navigate to the page you want to create a shortcut to and copy the entire URL in your browser's addres bar, including the ?envid= portion.

Tip: Quick links know to open non-Raiser's Edge NXT links in a new tab, but will navigate you to a Raiser's Edge NXT location in your current tab. If you want all links to open in a new tab, we recommend you use a keyboard shortcut. The keyboard shortcut to open a link in a new tab is Ctrl+Click on Windows and Linux, or Command+Click on Mac. You can also right-click the link and select Open Link in New Tab.

Add add-in links

Next, on the Customize Home page modal, select the Add-in links tab. Similar to Add-in tiles, Add-in links are links to independent functionality that run external to Raiser's Edge NXT, but they are rendered to look like they are native to your Blackbaud software. Blackbaud, Blackbaud partners, and 3rd party developers, such as a developer at your organization, can build a SKY Add-in that contains a link you can add to your Home page as a short cut to their functionality. You can build your own SKY Add-ins using our SKY Developer tools, including low-code options. For more details on low-code options, we recommend you check out our Microsoft Power Platform documentation.

Add the links that you want to see on your Home page. Once you add them, you can sort the order.

Note: Add-in links will only appear if SKY Add-ins enabled for your environment have Home page actions defined. If you don't see any links to add to your Home page, that's okay. You may not have any initially, but you can always check again later to see if there are any new ones defined.

Select your fundraising team

Optional

Do you lead or manage a fundraising team at your organization?  On the Customize Home page modal, select the My team tab. Search for and add the members of your team. You don't need to add yourself, you are automatically included.

Adding your fundraising team here means you can select it as a filter on some of the Home page tiles to get a more focused view.

Once you add your team members, select Save on the Customize Home page modal and you'll return to the Home page.

Order tiles on Home page

You now have a whole new Home page loaded. Take a few minutes to scan over the page and get used the information that appears. Then, we recommend you use the drag icon in the upper right corner of the tile to select, drag, and drop the tiles into the order that makes the most sense for you.

Configure and use the tiles

Lastly, we recommend you review the tiles you selected. For those that have a gear icon in the upper right, select it to define your options or further customize the data. Some tiles may not show any helpful data until you configure it, so take the time to review each tile's settings. This ensures the data you see is set up in the most meaningful way for you.

Then, review the tile itself. Are there links or additional information you can select? We recommend you take time to select everything you can to see what happens and where it takes you. This will help give you an idea going forward of how you can use the Home page on a daily basis.

Tip: We also recommend you try hovering your mouse over charts! When you hover, additional information appears!

For example, on the Campaign tracker tile, select View campaigns dashboard. This enables you to jump from a snapshot of how your campaigns are performing to a more in-depth view within Raiser's Edge NXT.

Next steps

You're now ready to incorporate the new, customizable Home page as part of your Raiser's Edge NXT toolbox. You can adjust, add, remove as you need to make the Home page work for you.
