Set Up Fundraising Work Center

In Fundraising, Work, fundraisers can easily view and access all the records and tasks they need to cultivate relationships and secure major gift opportunities with constituents. To set up work centers for your organization, a system administrator should do the following:

Work centers run on fundraiser assignments and relationships. If you haven't already done so, determine who at your organization manages constituent relationships and related activities — including volunteers who contact donors — and link them to their constituent records and mark them as fundraisers.

  • In the database view, link the user to their constituent record. Select Security from Admin, select their name in the tree-view, and select Open. On the user's record, search for their constituent record in the Constituent name field and select Save and Close.

  • In the web view, make the constituent a fundraiser. Select Mark as, Fundraiser on their record, choose their user name, and select Save. For more information, see Fundraisers.

Tip: Some — like managers and supervisors — have rights to view other fundraisers' work centers . To view assignments for people who don't have rights to a work center themselves, such as volunteer or person-to-person (P2P) fundraisers, still add them as users linked to their constituent records.

If you don't currently assign fundraisers to cultivate relationships, determine who manages which constituents and add assignments. At a minimum, we recommend you assign fundraisers to any known active relationships and to constituents with a wealth rating of three or more stars. For information, see Fundraiser Assignments.

Tip: To assign a fundraiser to multiple constituents at once, based on criteria such as wealth rating or giving history, globally add the assignments to their records from Admin in the database view. For information, see The Raiser's Edge Global Add, Delete, & Change Guide.

To help fundraisers succeed, assign them to the actions and opportunities created to cultivate their relationships and secure gift opportunities. Similarly, to help recognize their efforts, track which gifts your fundraisers should receive credit for.

  • When you add or edit an action for a constituent or opportunity, select who should perform the task or interaction. For more information, see Actions.

  • With Prospect Research Management, you can track opportunities to help secure major gifts. When you add or edit an opportunity in the database view, you can select who should manage the effort. For more information, see Opportunities.

  • When you add or edit a gift, track its responsible fundraisers so they receive credit. For more information, see Gifts.

Tip: To assign a fundraiser to multiple actions, opportunities, or gifts at once, globally add the assignments to their records from Admin in the database view. For information, see The Raiser's Edge Global Add, Delete, & Change Guide.

In Control Panel, give the fundraisers' roles access to work centers and, when you invite new users into Raiser's Edge NXT, assign them to a role with rights to work centers. You can also choose whether a role can view other fundraisers' work centers, such as for managers or supervisors. For information, see Fundraising Work Center Rights.
