Expedited Giving and Expedited Giving Plus

Expedited Giving and Expedited Giving Plus for YourCause® from Blackbaud help eligible donations reach nonprofits through faster-than-standard disbursement paths. Expedited processing for CSRconnect reduces the time between commitment and nonprofit receipt, helping corporate donors deliver funds faster and support a more flexible, responsive giving experience.

There are two options for expedited processing:

  • Expedited Giving

  • Expedited Giving Plus (shown in the product as Expedited Giving +)

Nonprofits must enable Expedited Giving and Expedited Giving Plus to receive donations through these disbursement paths.

Note: Chapter organizations receive disbursements through their parent organization. Individual chapters cannot connect a Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account or qualify for Expedited Giving separately.

If a donation is ineligible for expedited processing, it will be processed through a standard disbursement path.

  • Payroll donations and matches are ineligible because these donations are generated after a pay cycle and reconciled later. Funds must already be present for expedited processing.

  • PAC match cause cards are ineligible due to legal regulations and compliance.

  • Expedited processing requires the nonprofit to have an electronic disbursement method enabled. Check disbursements are only sent when the nonprofit does not have an electronic disbursement method, so they are not eligible for expedited processing.

  • Globally processed donations cannot be reliably overseen to ensure they are expedited.

Expedited Giving

With Expedited Giving, eligible funds are processed through the Blackbaud Giving Fund using an electronic disbursement method.

To qualify for Expedited Giving:

  • The nonprofit must set up an ACH disbursement method or a Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account as their disbursement method. An ACH disbursement method is usually in the form of a checking account that can receive direct deposits.

  • For eligible corporate fund donations (matches, incentives, some cause cards, and grants), the corporate donor must have a prefund account established through their Customer Success Manager (CSM) and have sufficient funds to cover the donation.

Supported donation types and grants

Expedited Giving supports these donation types in CSRconnect:

  • Credit card donations (including Apple Pay and Google Pay)

  • Credit card matches

  • Offline matches

  • Cause cards (excluding PAC match)

  • Incentives

  • Volunteer grants

Grant payments made through YourCause GrantsConnect are also supported.

Expedited Giving Plus

Expedited Giving Plus is an enhanced donation processing option that builds on Expedited Giving by using merchant account-based processing (Blackbaud Integrated Payments) instead of ACH disbursement (Blackbaud Giving Fund). With Expedited Giving Plus, eligible donations are routed directly to the nonprofit’s Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account, reducing the steps required to send funds to a nonprofit.

To qualify for Expedited Giving Plus:

If a donation doesn’t qualify for Expedited Giving Plus, it may still qualify for Expedited Giving and will process automatically.

Donor experience

Donors can filter for eligible nonprofits from Search Organizations, Explore Fundraisers, and when creating a fundraiser. Expedited Giving-eligible nonprofits are designated with a green rocket icon. Expedited Giving Plus-eligible nonprofits are designated with a blue lightning bolt icon.

Note: When an Expedited Giving Plus-eligible credit card donation is in the cart, donors cannot add credit card donations to other charities to their cart.

After completing an Expedited Giving donation, donors will receive standard email communication and receipts. For Expedited Giving Plus donations, donors will receive standard email communication about their donation, but they will receive IRS-compliant tax receipts from the nonprofit.

Note: You may notice that two donations to the same nonprofit move at different speeds. This can happen when donations use different payment methods or funding types.

Refunds and chargebacks

A chargeback occurs when a donor disputes a credit card transaction and the credit card company or bank sends a chargeback request.

Donations processed through the Blackbaud Giving Fund (standard Expedited Giving) are presented to donors as irrevocable gifts. These donations generally can't be refunded. If a chargeback occurs on one of these donations, Blackbaud disputes it on the nonprofit's behalf. The nonprofit doesn't need to take action.

For Expedited Giving Plus donations, refund requests and chargebacks from disputed transactions go directly to the nonprofit. The nonprofit manages both refunds and chargebacks through its Blackbaud Integrated Payments account.

Note: Transaction fees aren't refunded.
