Create an email message variant

  1. If the Create a new Variant page is not displayed:

    1. Select Email > Email Campaigns.

    2. Select the Campaigns tab.

    3. In the Actions column for the appropriate campaign, select Manage.

    4. Select the Messages tab.

    5. In the Actions column of the appropriate message, select Edit.

    6. In the left-hand navigation pane, select Create a new Variant.

  2. Select Create a Variant.

  3. In the Enter a short label for this message variant field, enter a label that will help identify the element being altered.

  4. (Optional) In the Include this message in the message list option, select whether you would like to include this message on your website. This applies only when the Message List component in the WYSIWYG content editor is used on your website to display the most recent messages sent.

  5. Select Next.

  6. Complete the fields on the Envelope page and select Next. See Set up message envelope for help.

  7. Complete the fields on the Stationery page and select Next. See Select the message stationery for help.

  8. Complete the fields on the HTML Content page and select Next. See Write the Message as HTML Content for help.

  9. Complete the fields on the Plain Text Content page and select Next. See Convert the Message to Plain Text for help.

  10. On the Send Review Email page, complete the Test the message field. See Test the Message for help.

  11. Select Send Tests.

  12. After a few moments, open the test accounts to receive and review the emails. Make any necessary changes to the variant message and repeat the steps above until you are satisfied.

  13. The next step varies depending on whether or not you are waiting for reviewers to respond:

    • If you are not waiting for reviewers to respond with comments, select Next. The Approve Message page displays.

      --OR--

    • If you are waiting for reviewers to respond with their comments, you can leave this page (or minimize it). Your message will be saved as a Draft in the Messages List for this campaign. When you have gathered the review comments, you can return to the Messages List and edit this message to fix any errors.

      Tip: If you leave this message now and do not have any additional edits to make, you can run the variant A/B test directly from the Message List.

  14. On the Approve page, select Approve. A message indicates that the variant message is being moved from Draft to Approved state.

  15. (Optional) Select Set Up Delivery to schedule the send. Alternatively, you can set the delivery schedule later.

  16. (Optional) For URL of the Message, copy the URL and paste it into your browser to see what the message will look like to constituents when viewed on a website.
