Prospect Insights FAQs

Any constituent who:

• Is an organization.

• Has a primary zip or postal code outside the United States.

• Has an invalid or missing zip code.

• Is marked deceased.

• Is under 18 years old.

• Doesn't match information from Blackbaud's proprietary data sources.

Not currently. You can view Prospect Insights data for any prospect record permitted by your portfolio permissions, even those with Record Security applied. We understand that privacy and discretion is an important aspect of fundraising, and your organization's privacy policy for staff using the fundraising database and fundraising tools should reflect the use of Prospect Insights.

Prospect Insights considers more than wealth to determine a constituent’s major giving likelihood and target gift range. Factors include the amount, frequency, and recency of gifts to your organization and others. In addition to capacity, the constituent must demonstrate a high willingness to give to your organization to be identified as a candidate in Prospect Insights.

Having a lot of untapped candidates is a good problem to have and shows your major giving program has lots of potential. Your highest rated candidates appear at the top of the list, so we suggest that you begin your review at the top and systematically work your way down, assigning or dismissing candidates as needed.

• Major giving likelihood, Target gift range, and projected giving and wealth information are updated quarterly, depending on when new data becomes available. Make sure to check the What's New for data update announcements.

• Major giving likelihood and Target gift range model scores are updated weekly, depending on the giving frequency for your organization.

• The Untapped candidates and Needs attention lists update as soon as you take any of our recommended actions.

• Cumulative giving is updated nightly, which may impact the Undergiving list.

• Newly added constituents are scored within 48 hours, which may cause an update in any of the queues.

We recommend that your fundraising team sets a cadence to frequently review prospect lists.

Yes. The qualification status appears on the constituent's record under Prospect Insights.

We recommend creating a new custom field such as "Identified by Prospect Insights" (yes/no), and applying to it actions and opportunities created in Prospect Insights.

When a candidate in the Untapped candidates list meets your organization’s requirements for major giving cultivation, select Mark as qualified and then assign them to a fundraiser. This action pulls a candidate into Prospect Insights as a prospect. Fundraisers can then manage the prospect in their portfolio, monitor actions and opportunities, and track changes to their giving behavior. Qualification guidelines and processes vary by organization, but typically include using data from Prospect Insights and other research about the candidate’s relationship with your organization.

Prospect Insights is currently only available to organizations based in the United States or Canada.

Prospect Insights is included at no additional cost with RENXT subscriptions to organizations based in the United States or Canada.
