Guidelines for Translations
Many areas in GrantsConnect allow you to translate your program assets into various languages to better support international audiences. While some assets are automatically translated by the system, you can also add your own translations for custom assets like email copies.
Before you begin...
Prior to building out translations, it's recommended to keep the following in mind:
-
Ensure you've selected all of the languages your organization plans to support in the Settings > Client Settings area. Only those languages defined in the client account will appear as options when translating content.
-
Machine translation is available for most content. However, some content - such as layout components in forms - require you to provide your own translated text.
-
Finalize the content for your forms, programs, etc. as much as possible. While not required, this helps limit how much of your translated content you'll need to update as edits are made.

How email recipients experience translations
Recipients - including applicants and Grant Managers - receive the version of the email for the language they've set in their GrantsConnect account. If their language is not available in your translations, their email will be sent in the client's default language instead.
Troubleshooting and limitations
-
Tokens - such as {{FIRST_NAME}} or {{ORGANIZATION}} - display in the client's default language even if the email copy has been translated.
